Ash Wednesday
I have decided to give up diet coke and all desserts for Lent. The desserts might not be so hard. Giving up the diet coke may put me into a coma. We will see.
i've given up smoking and coffee for lent, but seeing as i don't smoke or drink coffee anyway i should find it easy. in honesty though i would love to have the will power to give something up for lent, i might try giving up alcohol for lent, but i know i'll fail! good luck to you though :)
OH...Berly. GOOD LUCK!!! Jenny has a theory about these things *I think it's Jennifer*...
She says, That if you give up things that you rarely eat, lent would be a lot easier. Like If I gave up read meat, and pork *which I havent eaten in 15 years.* Lent will be a breeze...
But I suppose that defeats the purpose. I'm proud of you...good luck.
God bless you for that, girl :) I'm now officially Baptist - meaning nothing has to be given up for lent. Although I think I'm going to give up chocolate...
PP, it wasn't me who suggested giving up easy stuff for lent. I once gave up bacon for lent, I dreamed about it, I thought about it all day. One day, about two weeks in, my roommate fried some up and I actually cried. My mother's Irish, so we usually celebrate Easter with a comemoration of the Easter Uprising, a somber occasion with a buffet breakfast during the speakers. I went up to the buffet and refused all the other foods, I asked for a whole plate of bacon. It was so silly, it was distracting people at other tables. That was a few years ago, now I can't remember the last time I had bacon. It's amazing how you stop craving things after you don't have them for a while. You can do it, I believe. Also, it may help you lose weight, caffeine affects your stress hormones and can hinder weight loss. I've been working on cutting out the caffeine too, but I've just switched to caff-free diet coke, rather than going cold turkey.

Since one of my colds, I don't get the same taste from Diet Coke as I used to. It's pretty much out the door for now.
*fingers crossed* good luck to you, though :)

Don't do the Lent thing anymore since I quit the Catholics and have joined CA...
Good luck with it though!
I don't get diet coke or anything diet for that fact. I can taste the sweetener in it and it gives me a bad after taste.
You are sooooo strong. I couldn't go w/o my desserts and diet mountain dew.

You can still drink diet pepsi or diet Dr Pepper.
Wow, that's a lot to give up.
I agree with Ranger Tom!
