Have I told you this already?

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this to my blog family, but my oldest sister is pregnant.
With twins.
Apparently this kind of thing does run on the woman's side.
Who knew?
She is due at the end of July and my mom has already informed me that I will need to be saving my vacation time.
Not that I have a problem with this.
The more time with my nephews/neices the better since I do live three hours away.
I would like for them to get to know me.
But I have officially been volunteered to take a week off work and come "help" when the babies are born.

Nothing like being volunteered. I took a week off when Katie had Colby. Turns out she didn't need me a whole lot but I suppose every extra pair of hands helps.

I thought it was hard enough with just one at at time, but two at a time, I don't know if I could do it, and at the end of July? Ouch. Tell her congratulatoions and hopefully this isn't her first.

Its a chance for you to get away from:

1) your husband
2) the dickwad you mentioned in your other post who is your semi boss
3) your boss
4) all of the above

My baby sister just had her first. Looks like a trip sometime soon to Philadelphia is in order.

I wish my sister would have some babies. It would take the pressure off me to do so.

Congrats though. Twins will be a lot of fun.

That's nice of you. And the best part is that you don't own all that crying and you get to walk away after a week and go home and get some sleep. You're a saint for helping out though.

Ohh...you'll have fun. New babies are so little....and if your sister is breast feeding, you wont have to worry about waking up to feed them. however, the incessant screaming in the middle of the night is always something that takes time to get used to.

Twins..that's awesome...does she know what they are?

OK I am gonna go against the grain here. While I think it is great your family is so excited about the babies, I don't think anyone should volunteer your time. Your time is yours and you might have far better things to do.

The thing that bugs me about those who have babies and make them EVERYTHING in their lives is that they expect everyone to share in the feeling.

While I can hang with my nieces and nephews, I am not what you call a baby person and I am happy to have my life the way it is.

When my sisters gave birth I came to visit and saw the babies and saw them and brought presents. But unless there was a medical emergency or something of the sort, there is no way I would have given up a week of my time to go help them. Babies are choices and they come with all sorts of responsibilities that the parents, not the rest of the world, must undertake.

OK...I am off my soapbox. :)
