. . . and that's when you know to grab your hoe!

So says my Grandmother.
She is an 85-year-old that continues to mow 105 acre farm every spring and summer, rides her bike at least a mile every day and grabs her hoe when the guineas are circling because that means there is a snake in the yard.
I think the woman has more energy and life at 85 than I do at 25.
And when asked why she doesn't find a boyfriend and maybe remarry, "Why would I want to take care of some man at my age?"

Sounds like my nanny. She is 88 and still lives on her own as well. She complains about old people and makes fun of them if they are not as spunky as her. She goes for walks, loves to garden and shovels in the winter. She refuses to join any of those clubs for seniors and is not very sociable...she thinks they are for old people.

your gran rocks!!!
mine is 90 and unfortunately suffers from occasional memory loss, it's hard for me to see her like this and as a result i've been a bad grandson and not seen her as often as i should've done. but i'd rather keep the memories i have of her than get new ones that show her as a shadow of her former self

Miss Ash's grandmother reminds me so much of the Hank's father from Kind of the Hill. She's so spunky.

My grandmother wore leather pants, married 3 times and lived into her 90s, but she never liked me. That's OK though I didn't like her either.

Sounds like she's got it down to a T. I love hearing when people get in that age that they don't have to rely on others to live a normal life. But doing all that is awsome.
